Two Regimes: Witness to War

Description: We live in tumultuous times in our global community. Now more than ever, our Museums, school and libraries are essential educational venues for everyone! The history of our past and the events of the present can often pre-determine the climate of the future. Two Regimes.... A Mothers Memoir of Wartime Survival, is a manuscript that was written and hidden during WWII by Teodora Verbitskaya, its author. Teodora was a simple Russian woman, who with her two daughters Lucy and Nadia, survived the horrors of war in the Ukraine under the two regimes of Stalin and Hitler. After the war, daughter Nadia trained and became a literate artist who painted the precious memories of her Country and its people before, during and after the war. Both mother and daughter created their written word and artist brush memories, decades apart. More than just a factual retelling of their experiences, Nadia’s paintings and Teodora’s writings bring to life the widespread destruction of the Nazi and Stalinist regimes, the reality of the Holocaust and the Holodomor, and its impact on the psyche of the Western world. This program encourages dialogue about War and its Social emotional impact of populations in global societies. We look forward to bringing it to you!
